Our Greatest Glory is not in never Falling

Our greatest glory is not in never falling but in rising every time we fall.-Confucius

2016-09-10_1824In this saying Confucius was right on the money… If you go back into your life and see the times you fell in your life and then see how long did it take you to get back up. It would have been better if you just dusted yourself off and moved forward right away.

Life is too short to sit around and complain about the situation that happened yesterday. You have the power to sit and complain and you also have the Power to Rise and take that lesson and create a whole New Canvass for your life.

In my life, I always had a Dream to be an NYPD Policeman and in 1993 it came alive and I entered the Police Academy. But 2 years later the economy blew a hole in the City budget and they laid off cops for the first time and I was one of them.

That was a sad day but I remember going to the unemployment line and saying this is BS. I am not going to let this stop me and I went and looked for another JOB. In the process, I started to work back at my old career as a  bartender and kept dreaming of the day I would go back to my Dream. Watch what happened…….

One night I went to an old hangout to meet some friends. When I arrived I saw that the new owner of the bar,Tony was behind the bar as the bartender. We knew each other for a short time that he was the new owner and I knew he didn’t really know what he was doing. Well, he asked me if I could fill in behind the bar because he fired the other person and that he was waiting for a new Bartender to arrive. I said sure and guess what we became real good friends and he offered me a job as a Manager and gave me a percentage bonus of sales. It was really nothing but it gave me the opportunity to work with him on some cool ideas within the business.  About a year  or so later he sold that bar and we lost contact for many years, No it’s not over yet.

newyorkmikeA short time later I went back to my Dream job in the NYPD and became a Detective but learned so much from that experience that it was always in the back of my mind that one day I would open my own place. Well, watch what happened…

After losing contact with him for about 4 years I stopped into a place and the lady behind the bar said to me Tony was looking for me. I said Tony who and she said the guy from the other Tavern. He left his number so if I ever saw you for me to get in touch with him right away.

So I gave him a call the next day and he asks me to meet him at a location in the Forest Hills area of Queens. When I arrived he shared with me a vision of a new Restaurant he wanted to put together and would love me to be part of this. So once again I agreed even though this was going to be a long process without any pay just a vision maybe in the future I would become a manager . I said what the heck he was really good with me in the other place and we always had a lot of laughs. So what the heck let’s do it…

Well after a year or so we toasted a drink to the opening of a crazy fun time of building a business from scratch . You see he was a good Carpenter, visionary by trade and me a good boss/helper attitude. So we opened but that is still only a part of what that first negative situation brought into my life by not sitting down and giving up. This lead to another Tavern and eventually into the Network Marketing Industry.

Oh !  because of that bad experience in 1975  I was able to look at other things and retired from a Full-time job at the age of 42 in 1993.

All progress takes place outside the comfort zone

The Moral of the Story is don’t count on a JOB for your future … Create Your Own Future and become better when bad situations come into your life. It happens for a reason but you control your destiny in any situation.
Please don’t let the crabs in the bucket keep you there because they are afraid of getting out of their comfort Zones… Go  Create your Life for you and your family.Recognize that when a bad situation happens it is your learning time. to grow and experience new things and to avoid the mistakes of the past.
